Antonio Da Silva Machos 12

Antonio Da Silva is an award-winning filmmaker  whose films has been featured at festivals in Israel, Spain, Portugal, London, the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Brazil and more. On his official site Da Silva explains, “I have always been fascinated by male sex and sexuality. I became increasingly frustrated with how moving image explored this and have begun to make it the subject of my films over the last three years. I do not consider myself a pornographer but a filmmaker who use my background to choreograph short films with explicit sex themes.”

As I Google Antonio Da Silva name in the web, I find just a few interviews with this Portuguese film director. The reason? He doesn’t like them and also it’s very rare to see him attending festivals where his films are released. He says his work talks about himself and I am sure it does because Antonio Da Silva portraits the gay male sexuality and eroticism exploring not only their bodies if not desires, passions, pulsations and emotions under the skin. Still, we don’t know how Antonio’s face look like, but we hope one day he shows up.

Antonio Da Silva adult films definitely are not mainstream or boring. They are delicious excitement for our eyes. He has 21 short movies on board, the last MACHOS, where Da Silva goes to Mexico and reveals us the carnal universe of a group of horny male Mexicans ready to enjoy their bodies, Here you will find also interviews with them talking about prejudices and stereotypes. What to be a macho mean? Sometimes they refer “mayate” as the straight guy who doesn’t refers himself as gay but have sex with other men. The narration of his films travels between narrative cinema, pornography and art film, it’s a combination of these three fields. We wonder how it would be a short movie with Da Silva’s here filming the sex of hot Peruvian men.

I can label Da Silva films with the tag of experimental work but after 21 films he is one of the finest erotic directors if not the only one adult of a unique vision of gay male sex and erotica. But if you are thinking his work is only about men jacking off or having sex you are wrong. Antonio Da Silva doesn’t consider a pornographer and certaintly he is not. I think his films helped to expand the porn genre because he doesn’t porn in the way porn is perceived today.

Da Silva achieves one of the most powerful forces of human nature: sex and desire and that’s is something we need to be grateful without prejudice or de-sexualize our history. You won’t watch Antonio’s work on big screen if not in your mobile device, tablet, smartphone, PCs, laptop or your smart TV wish we could see there but I am afraid his work as Wakefield Poole would get G or PG in some LGTB festivals. Da Silva’s films are not part of the gay mainstreaming movement not at all. He tries to show us sex in a very natural way without embarrassment or guilty if not with a magnificent lust. I ask myself, Is the sexual parts of LGBT history make most heterosexuals uncomfortable and even some people of our community?

Visually he is always looking for the frame, the angle, the scene. He is an artist ready to record beautiful shots. using natural light and avoiding external music. We will find features interviews as well. Men searching fun trying to connect each other in the cities and nature. Sometimes the cam makes brusque movements and other quiet as the director follow the guys into the bathroom or sky behind or stand up in front of them.

Antonio Da Silva Spunk 9His men are econatural, mates, bankers, gingers, dancers, cariocas, nude dudes, daddies, doggers, besexual, spunks and of course machos. Antonio loves the beach and we can see right there and also the green of nature. We see men on chatting, hook app, sex cam, jacking off on public bathrooms, swimming, having sex, walking, cruising, kissing, All them are real people in real situations, raw and emotional. He is fascinated by male sex and sexuality, the core of my work.

Here you will always find a plot, a sequence, a line that follow a speech, plot lines, narrative and sexuality engaged together. I can tell his work has an anthropological side that he studies filming it. One great component is the montage or edition. It’s very accurate and precise, not more or less, juts the right stuff. He also makes juxtaposition of different shots and sounds.

The people in their films are not actors, they are people like you or me with whom we can relate easily. They reflect the realness of the person and his space. Nothing is fake here and Da Silva’s men can prove it. His work tell stories of real people, real emotions and experiences. In certain way I can compare as a gay sex life documentary. He is just surrounding them filming what’s happening.

Antonio Da Silva MachosAntonio’s make his own budget and he produces his own films, that makes it more genuine and very interesting. He is influenced by the pioneering gay pornographic art-filmmaker Wakefield Poole, Derek Jarman, Kenneth Anger, queer porn director Fred Halsted, the Dogme 95 style of Lars von Trier, Maya Deren.

He doesn’t anything to hide Da Silva’s work it made to give us pleasure and pleasure it’s all every man needs to feel alive. Antonio is a really true artist, a voyeur, a sensual erotic director, a porn man, a deep should and one by one his films speaks about it.
